Calvert County Public Schools is utilizing the information technology of the webcam to connect students to a well known raptor, the Osprey. In this unit, middle school students revisit the lessons learned in the Fall semester regarding energy and matter cycles and participate in research where they observe and report findings of a nest located on Cocktown Creek at Kings Landing Park. From a computer, smart phone, or any device connected to the internet, you too can be part of this research.

Scientist Rebecca Lazarus with the U.S. Geological Survey shows in this short video, how she conducts contamination studies on local osprey and explains why the bird is so important to researchers. (1.5 minutes)
